<idPurp>The Sewer Manhole point feature class captures the location and attributes of sewer manholes within the City of Auburn’s sewer service area boundary. Sewer manholes facilitate the inspection and maintenance of underground sewer infrastructure and support the conveyance of wastewater.</idPurp>
<idAbs>

The Sewer Manhole feature class is a geospatial dataset representing the city’s sanitary sewer manhole locations as point features across residential, commercial, and industrial properties within the City of Auburn. The dataset includes detailed information on the location, age, elevation, depth, direction, and ownership of each sewer manhole on record. It is maintained as part of the city’s asset management system and is updated regularly to reflect changes such as new construction, repairs, or replacements. The data is used by the city’s Public Works Department, engineers, and GIS professionals for analysis, planning, and operational tasks, including monitoring system performance, identifying maintenance needs, and conducting capacity studies. Additionally, the Sewer Manhole feature class supports compliance with regulatory requirements related to wastewater management and facilitates the development of infrastructure improvement plans.

</idAbs>

<statement>The Sewer Manholes feature class was developed using a combination of original as-built drawings, field survey data collected by City of Auburn staff, and existing GIS data layers, including DTM-derived elevations for rim heights. Initial spatial data were digitized from imported CAD drawings in 2004. Attribute information was compiled and cross-checked from maintenance and operations records, asset management databases, and recent system inspections. Data integration and quality control processes were employed to ensure accuracy and consistency. The dataset is maintained in a Enterprise Geodatabase and is regularly updated to reflect sewer system expansions, rehabilitations, and retirements and is undergoing a current sewer inventory effort as of 2026.</statement>
<prcStep>
<stepDesc>As-built drawings and related engineering documents were reviewed to verify and update the spatial location and attribute information of sewer manholes. Discrepancies between existing GIS data and as-built records were identified and corrected using as-built information as well as DTM elevations. Updates included adjusting feature geometry for accuracy and revising attributes such as installation date, ownership, depth, flow direction, and status. All updates were performed in ArcGIS Pro, with attribute domains and subtypes enforced to maintain data integrity. Quality control checks, including topology validation and domain compliance, were conducted following updates to ensure consistency and accuracy of the dataset.
